Dear Singers,
I hope you have had a a good week and are preparing a warm cup of refreshment (contents at your discretion) for the upcoming weather event. While doing so, read the review of our performance last week athttp://cvnc.org/article.cfm?articleId=7785 <athttp://cvnc.org/article.cfm?articleId=7785>
I’ve been thinking for the last few days about the wonderful work that you did last week, but I have also been thinking about the time and energy that was required to do so. I want us to come back for the next project feeling energized and ready to sing, which I feel will have a better chance of happening if we postpone our next Symphonic Choir rehearsal for an additional week. Therefore, no rehearsal this Monday, January 25th. We will resume on Monday, February 1st at our normal time.
Speaking of our next project, we will be performing a program that I am very proud of, and excited about. The program is called The Deepness of the Blue, and will be our first concert ever performed in the beautiful Sanctuary of St. Francis United Methodist Church in Cary. The title work comes from writings by Langston Hughes and is set for small ensemble and four hand piano by William Averitt. The program features music from the African, and African American traditions that tells a story that spans 400 years, including some of the greatest choral arrangements of spirituals ever written. A list of the music to be performed is pasted in below. We need all of you to make this program as wonderful as it can be! I have heard some discussion about sitting out the spring season, but hope that is just the fatigue from last week talking. Think about how wonderful it will be to sing multiple Moses Hogan arrangements :-) Whatever your plans, I need you to let me know if you will participate. Click the link below for one of my famous 30 second surveys so that we can make sure that we have music for everyone.

The cost for music is $20, which includes the $5 reduction promised from our overcharge on the Holiday Pops. I wish we could make the charge even lower, but concerts with multiple single copies always cost a bit more than ones with one or two major works. There will be a Paypal link setup shortly on the members page.
Have fun playing in the snow…or ice, or the grass if precipitation never materializes. Hopefully, we’ll see all of you on February 1st!
Larry
