PLEASE NOTE:
A Message From Larry:
Dear Singers,
I want to thank all of you for the extraordinary time and effort you have
put into this project! Your work has paid off and Joe is VERY pleased with
your singing and musicianship. Tomorrow will be the culmination of all your
hard work, and because of that work, I know that you will give an
outstanding performance. Please savor the moment and enjoy the experience.
With Joe, you are working with one the best in the business ... and those
experiences do not come along very often!
I also want to share a few thoughts in advance of tomorrow's warmup. When I
joined the choir for the afternoon rehearsal of the Haydn, I found that the
feedback from the room gave the impression that the sound was not
projecting. Keep in mind that we have never used this setup in the Carolina
Theatre. We usually have a curve in the step risers which enables us to hear
each other a bit better. The good news is that by setting up straight
across, the sound goes directly out to the audience. Unfortunately, not much
bounces back to you, giving you the impression you are not being heard. I
can assure you that you are being heard clearly. The adjustments in dynamics
on the Vaughan Williams had everything to do with the normal rehearsal
process. Once we did that, it was great. As Joe told us, LOVE the words. If
we do so, we'll be at our very best.
Let's give a performance to remember!
