*Choral Notes for the week of 10/22*

*A Message from Larry*

*** I am pleased to announce a new initiative beginning in January that
will enable all of the women who are currently active CSC members to sing
throughout the year. As you recall from the last two years, our
collaborations with the Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle limit us to 70
singers due to the size of their orchestra and space limitations on the
stage. Since we have a 2-1 ratio of women to men on our roster this has
left approximately 50 women idle during the COT projects. The new
initiative will have Jenn Myers leading a women’s chorus that will rehearse
on Monday evenings during our usual time but in another room at the CAC
while Chorale rehearses in Marcus Dry. The emphasis will be on developing
vocal and reading skills through the use of performance pieces arranged for
women’s voices. These pieces will be part of our program at Koka Booth
Amphitheater on May 11th when the full Symphonic Choir will present
Gershwin’s Strike Up the Band. Rehearsals for the women’s chorus will
continue as a portion of the Monday night rehearsals once the Symphonic
Choir resumes in March after the Chorale performance. The final grouping of
the women's chorus will depend on the response from those singers who are
not singing in Chorale.*

*I am looking forward to having this new music addition in our repertoire!*

*TEN MORE VOLUNTEERS WITH LEGIBLE HANDWRITING NEEDED!!!*
**
On November 10th, at 10:00am, Jackie Salmon has generously offered to host
a delicious luncheon for the volunteers who will be addressing hand written
invitations for our biggest fund raiser yet! This very productive, but at
the same time, fun, social event will take place in Jackie's home - 260
Beckingham Loop, Cary, 27519-6373. Several hundred invitations will be sent
out, which is why we need about ten more volunteers to get them all
addressed (legibly hand written) and stuffed by lunchtime. Have a friend
come along with you to help; they do not need to be members of CSC! You
can contact Jackie either by e-mail jsalmon4 at nc.rr.com , phone (919)650-3172,
or in person at rehearsal. Please volunteer for this enjoyable event for
The Concert Singers of Cary's January Gala. Many thanks to you and
to Jackie!

*Go shopping and help the Concert Singer's Youth Chorus*
**
Jill Ruvidich will be selling the $5 Belk sale coupons before Monday
night's rehearsal. This coupon will get you in the door before the crowds -
6:00am - 10:00am - and gets you $5 off your first item AND benefits the
Youth Chorus! The SALE is November 3rd.

*Pre-ordered Concert Singers of Cary t-shirts*
**

If you are one of the 22 singers who ordered the $8 t-shirt a few weeks
ago: they are in. Please remember to bring the exact amount with you on
Monday to pick up your t-shirt. Thank you.

*A very big, sincere "Thank You "....*
**
..to everyone who purchased an add or who pounded the pavement to find
businesses, etc. who might be interested in purchasing an add in The
Concert Singers of Cary's program! You are greatly appreciated.

*One more note...*

We hope to have a podium of sorts for Larry to stand on at rehearsal so
that *everyone *can see both him and his hands!

Here's to the joy of singing!
