<div><em><u><font face="Times New Roman"></font></u></em><font size="4"> </font></div><div><u><font face="Times New Roman"></font></u><em><font size="4" face="times new roman,serif"> I am pleased to announce a new initiative beginning in January that will enable all of the women who are currently active CSC members to sing throughout the year. As you recall from the last two years, our collaborations with the Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle limit us to 70 singers due to the size of their orchestra and space limitations on the stage. Since we have a 2-1 ratio of women to men on our roster this has left approximately 50 women idle during the COT projects. The new initiative will have Jenn Myers leading a women’s chorus that will rehearse on Monday evenings during our usual time but in another room at the CAC while Chorale rehearses in Marcus Dry. The emphasis will be on developing vocal and reading skills through the use of performance pieces arranged for women’s voices. These pieces will be part of our program at Koka Booth Amphitheater on May 11^th when the full Symphonic Choir will present Gershwin’s Strike Up the Band. Rehearsals for the women’s chorus will continue as a portion of the Monday night rehearsals once the Symphonic Choir resumes in March after the Chorale performance. The final grouping of the women's chorus will depend on the response from those singers who are not singing in Chorale.</font></em></div>
