[csc_newsline] Response Requested - American Celebration Concert

Dear Singers,

 

I am writing to remind you that we begin rehearsals next week for American
Celebration, our Memorial Weekend Concert on Sunday, May 29th at Koka Booth
Amphitheater. We hope that you all can join us! The program will feature
works from Broadway with some Americana included. Our portion of the program
will be as follows;

 

Choral Selections from West Side Story
Bernstein/Sondheim/arr. Stickles

Medley from Les Miserablles
Schonberg/Boublil/arr. Lojeski

                We will carry over from our Von Trapp October program

Battle Hymn of the Republic                                       arr. Vince
Leonard

Heartland
Vince Leonard

Mother Liberty
Phil Feo

 

We will be collecting your responses differently this time. In an effort to
save time and effort from our section leaders, I am asking you to go to the
link below to respond. Please do so in whether you intend to participate or
not. It will take 20 seconds of your time to do so. This is really important
so that we can have enough scores for everyone without having to purchas
more than we need. We will assume that you will bring your own copies of
Heartland, Battle Hymn and America's Hope if you did sing the Von Trapp
concert in October. The cost for music for this project is $8.00 if you have
the Von Trapp pieces and $11.00 if you do not.

I also want to point out that there are some minor adjustments to the
schedule that will address concerns from previous years about the amount of
time that we spend in the heat. We have ADDED A REHEARSAL with the Wind
Ensemble on Tuesday evening, May 24th from 7:00 - 8:30 at Durham School of
the Arts on Duke Street in Durham. Sorry to make us all run out there to
rehearse, but that is where the Wind Ensemble has their regular rehearsals
and where the equipment that they need is available. By doing this we WILL
NOT REHEARSE IN THE AFTERNOON ON THE DAY OF THE CONCERT (original call was
2:30 - 5:00). We will rehearse from 5:30 - 6:30 prior to the concert to have
an opportunity to adjust to the acoustic.

 

I really hope that you can join us for the finale of our 20th anniversary
season!
