[New_csc_newsline] The Concert Singers of Cary Choral Notes – It's almost the 'day of the show' ya'll!

Ahoj!



Our final rehearsal for the Big Show is Sat Nov 5, 1-4pm at the Cary
Arts Center (101 Dry Ave). Please be in the main theater ready-to-go
by 1pm! Late comers are disruptive. You do not have to be in concert
dress at the rehearsal. Have your black binder with the music secured,
in order (see attached; note that the second half order has changed
from what was previously sent).



The show is that evening at 7:30pm; call is 6:45pm in the main
theater. The green room and dressing rooms will be available under the
theater for clothes changing and ‘hanging out’. Rooms will not be
locked during the show. There will be chairs on the risers all day.
The seating chart for the concert will be sent out Friday after the
set up has been confirmed.

Reflections:
-TB, The opening section was well done...give it a look over before
Saturday for security
-SA, be ready for entrance in m. 56, finding the B with the C# in the piano
-ST, practice measures 64-74. There are part tracks if needed in the folder
above.

Everyone can note, in several places, the "reflection" is written into the
music through contrary motion of two parts, where they are mirror images of
each other, m. 56, m. 64 (probably the best example), the double reflection
m. 82. They are not intervallically perfect opposites, but are scalar
opposites (ie, in m. 64, the S and T start on the same pitch, which in this
moment serves as the tonic note. They move in opposite directions by one
step in the scale, even though the sops go up by a whole step, tenors down
by 1/2 step)

-SA, practice 37-50 to be sure of your counting, there are tracks if needed
in the folder above
-All, sing through m. 78-117, since we didn't sing this section on Monday
-All, practice m. 125-135, there are tracks if needed in the folder above
