[New_csc_newsline] The Concert Singers of Cary Choral Notes – what'd I say?

Happy fall ya'll (the equinox was 9/21)!

Our second fall rehearsal is Monday Sept 27, 7:30pm til about 8:30 at
the Cary Arts Center theatre. After, if weather cooperates, you may
optionally join me for a beverage at the delightful Cotton House,
located within a short walking distance from the CAC - 307 S Academy
St.! Plenty of outdoor seating.

Don’t miss the return of “QUOTES FROM REHEARSAL “ at the very bottom
of this email! Also, pictures from reh 1 are posted on the public CSC
Facebook page.

Let me know any questions or concerns you have from our first
rehearsal. Personally I like how Nathan did the seating, I could get
used to an empty chair L, R, F and B, and sitting in a comfy padded
seat (whilst still maintaining proper singing posture of course!)!

Nathan has let me know that he will (as usual) be fiddling with the
seating chart. Watch for updates on that, and in any event, we'll have
a copy of the new seating chart at rehearsal on Monday.

For Holiday Pops, we will be doing 2 pieces from recent years that
returning singers may have: "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, arr.
Billingsley" and "Little Jack Frost (Get Lost), arr. Narverud". Please
check your stack of old music to see if you have a copy so we know how many
of those to order, we'll take a poll in person Monday.

I suggest you make it a habit to skedaddle by the table before
rehearsals to see if there's anything new. E.g. on Monday we should
have some of the other Holiday Pops music to pass out.

The cost for the fall music will be $20 per person, you can pay here:

https://concertsingers.org/members/paypal-links/

Paypal is the preferred method, but checks or cash are also fine (at
the table before rehs). Please note that we don't prorate based on
whether you already have some of the music - to keep the accounting
simple and the total cost 'per person' down.

The “Where We Find Ourselves” music is divided into 5 parts (Hair,
Hats, Memento Vivere, Scars and Work). You will need to print and
bring your own copies, or have them on your tablet or phone to sing
from. You can find the PDF files here:

Those of us who sang it in the spring, alone in our homes; wasn’t it
great to hear us sing it all together? *sniff*

In addition to our repertoire for our Dec 11 Holiday Pops, we will
also be rehearsing movements from Vivaldi's Gloria this fall. You can
borrow a copy from us (thanks NC State!). You may mark in it WITH
PENCIL ONLY and will need to return it later in the fall. Thanks to
Terri Ring for discovering that CSC sang the Vivaldi Gloria for our
1995 holiday concert “Christmas in Cary.”

Many of your queries can be answered by your respective section leaders.
For attendance matters (like when you’ll miss or be late), please contact
them. Their names and contact info are here:

If you need a nametag (never received one, or have looked hard but
can’t find it :) please let me know (just reply to this email) and
I’ll make you one and have it at the table before rehearsal.
Avery/Zach, yours are coming.

If you haven’t yet filled in the waiver/protocol/vaccination form and
sent it, you must before your first rehearsal. All the info is here:

Our first restaurant fundraiser of the season will be at Mellow
Mushroom (4300 NW Cary Parkway) on Wed 9/29/2021, 11am to 9pm. We get
a whopping 20% of the sale IF you leave your receipt in the jar on the
counter (if you take out, ask the server who delivers your food to
your car to put your receipt in the jar.) Inform all your friends,
family and neighbors! But especially, let someone else make dinner
(pizza!) that night. Hope to see you there!

In addition to the public CSC group, we have a private group for
current (and past) CSC singers!
