A sta acasa!
Hello everybody! I sure do miss you-all. Check out pics from yesterday's
Zoom reh here! https://concertsingers.org/singing-together-virtually/
The info below is from Sue Chaploney and the CSC board.
=======================
Hi Singers,
I hope this finds you well. What a crazy time we are living through. And,
all this without being able to sing together to lighten our spirits. We
will be together again and it is time to think about the future of the
Concert Singers of Cary.
Our Annual Pledge Drive, a huge source of funding, was to begin on March
23. All the plans were in place. The skit was written, the actors ready to
go, the posters created, the exciting prizes acquired and the stage set.
But then we were upstaged by the Coronavirus and it was all put on hold.
The pledge drive was put on hold, our singing was put on hold, and life as
we knew it changed dramatically.
The theme of the Pledge Drive was based on the “Cheers” TV program theme
song. These lyrics seem to have more meaning in our lives now than ever
before. The lyrics go (google melody to sing along):
Where Everybody Knows Your Name
Making your way in the world today
Takes everything you've got
Taking a break from all your worries
Sure would help a lot
Wouldn't you like to get away?
Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came
You wanna be where you can see
Our troubles are all the same
You wanna be where everybody knows your name.
Yes, we will be singing together again. But in order for this to happen we
need Nathan Leaf to continue planning upcoming seasons and thinking outside
the box creatively planning new ways of doing things. We need Laura
King-Moore, Executive Director, to keep us organized and apply for much
needed grant money which provides the bulk of our income. We need Thom
Haynes to keep us informed. And, we need Melanie Simmons, our bookkeeper,
to keep our finances organized. We don't want to lose any of these people
but it takes money to ensure that our organization will be there after our
new world order settles in.
So let's have a pledge drive. We need everyone to show their support for
the continuation of CSC by giving whatever donation is meaningful to you.
It can be difficult during this time to give at all but just a couple of
dollars would mean so much and make a huge difference. Grant applications
want to know that the membership is supporting their organization beyond
annual dues. Therefore, our primary Pledge Drive goal is to have 100%
participation which will give us a fighting chance to get the grant monies
we need to survive. It is up to us to make sure The Concert Singers of Cary
will be there when we can once again gather together and sing.
Thank you so much for giving whatever you can.
