Dear Concert Singers,



What a difficult and strange time we are experiencing.  I hope you are all
healthy and well – and I mean that with even more earnestness than usual.
And amidst the hardship, some of the things that bring us the most
satisfaction – gathering together, singing, socializing – are not currently
possible. Which adds to the challenge.



At this point, it has become clear to the CSC board and staff that it is
not feasible to continue with the rest of the season. As such, all
remaining rehearsals for the rest of the season, and our May 16 Mozart
concert, are cancelled.



The board and staff have been hard at work to figure out a resolution for
the planned Carnegie Hall trip. A more detailed email will be sent out
separately to those who were planning to go.



Our next possible event would be the rescheduled Hum Sub Basant Bahar
performance, which would mean a rehearsal on August 3, August 8, and
performance August 9. Of course, we also don’t know if conditions will
allow participation at this point. Regardless, we have not had enough
response to the survey to be able to confirm that we will participate.

We plan to begin our next season, Concert Singers 30th year, as usual, with
the first rehearsal the Monday after Labor Day, September 14. We also have
auditions for new members scheduled for August 17 and 31. Please let anyone
know who might be interested. Our next season will be a celebration – not
only of an anniversary for the organization, but also of our opportunity to
be together, creating beauty once again.

While we will not be rehearsing together these next weeks, it is my plan to
“drop in” to your socially-distant habitat from time to time with some
musical posts or recorded videos, to help spur some imaginative thinking
during our sequestration. We can all use an opportunity for some creative
thought. We also should be mindful that we may have members (although I do
not know of any as of this writing) who may be ill due to the virus, or
others who may be suffering unexpected financial challenges. Please know
that as an organization, we are grateful for all you do, and the role you
play in making Concert Singers a real treasure in our community. I look
forward to when we will be able to gather and sing together again.
