[New_csc_newsline] The Concert Singers of Cary Choral Notes - IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Dear Choir,

After much deliberation, Hum Sub has decided to postpone the Basant Bahar
performance on March 22. That means there are no Concert Singers events at
all next week. March 16 Symphonic rehearsal, March 17 Chamber rehearsal,
March 21 dress rehearsal, March 22 performance are all cancelled. While
this is very disappointing, Hum Sub is working to reschedule the event,
likely in the summer when there is availability at the CAC. I am hopeful we
will be able to participate if they reschedule - we will have to wait and
see what the schedule looks like for that.

We are still scheduled to start back with Mozart rehearsals on Monday,
March 23. Please keep that rehearsal, and the following Monday rehearsals,
in your calendar at this point. We will see how things progress and take it
as it comes. Thank you for your patience as we determine what the best
course of action is. We will make a decision about the March 23 rehearsal
by Thursday, March 19 at the latest. Makes me glad we had those two
rehearsals on the Mozart in February. In the meantime, please be sure the
markings are in your score, and you can begin practicing your parts on your
own, using the practice tracks if you desire. In all cases, please know
that the board, Laura, and myself all are working to make the best
decisions for the choir and also for everyone's health.

Some of you may also have heard that various universities, including our
Carnegie Hall partner NC State, are enacting certain measures to prevent
spread of the virus. As of this afternoon, NC State has placed a temporary
restriction on travel outside of the state. The good news is that our New
York concert is far into the future and is still scheduled to go as
planned. We are monitoring the situation and making contact with the
various organizations. At this point, there is no news to report regarding
the Carnegie trip.

This is a good time to review our standard rules for sickness when
singing with the choir. Typically, the rule is if you are in a
contagious state (with any type of sickness) one should not attend
rehearsal. If you are past the contagious state, but still coughing,
etc, one should generally attend, but try to sit a bit away from the
section. Given the current circumstances with the Corona virus, when
we do resume rehearsals, please err on the side of caution when
deciding to attend or not. If you think you might be sick or have been
exposed, please stay home. If we need to cancel a few Mozart
rehearsals, and have a couple extra practice sessions later, we can do
that.

Nathan
