Dear Concert Singers:

At the monthly board meeting on Tuesday, your board held a lively
discussion centered around fundraising events for the choir. Each month at
the meetings, the board works to make decisions for the choir that will
focus our efforts to:

Enrich the regional Research Triangle communities by performing outstanding
choral music from all traditions, living up to the title “Voices Heard
Throughout the Triangle.”

Historically, a major fundraising event has been held each year and revenue
from these events is included in our budget.  We hosted the Gala (2017-18)
to celebrate our founding director’s leadership and congratulate him on his
retirement. However, the Dinner Galas, Silent Auctions, and House Parties
of the past required an immense number of volunteer hours and initial
spending by the choir. This year’s “Great Turkey Gala” is a new approach
that involves no financial risk on our part and will provide a good portion
of the annual fundraising target (see attached file).

Maybe you have not thought about the way the CSC is funded: the pie chart
shows the relative portion of each type of revenue that we must generate to
achieve our mission (e.g., donations, grants, ticket sales, dues, and
fundraising). While revenue  from the major fundraising event is a smaller
piece of the pie, it is critical to our success in balancing our budget. To
put a number on it, we need to raise $8,000.00 net income from such an
event each season - in addition to our other sources of revenue. The “Great
Turkey Gala” offers us the opportunity to raise an estimated $5,000-7,000
to support CSC and maintain a balanced budget for the organization.

Please carefully consider how you can participate in partnership with the
Jaycees at the NC State Fair Turkey Shoot by volunteering, with friends and
family and your choir membership. The link is simple to operate and there
are still many vacant spots so you will be able to find something that
works for you.

There are time lengths from 4.5 to 8.25 hours (and even a few of 1 hour
length). Currently we've filled just 43 of our 139 slots.

The Great Turkey Gala will offer a way to achieve most if not all of our
fundraising goal early in the season and allow us to focus our energy on
performing and planning for the Carnegie Hall tour!
