You can read up on Pops ‘sparkly’ concert attire here (bottom):

And you can research the tour group sponsoring the POSSIBLE April or
May 2020 New York City trip here: http://midamerica-music.com/
approximate cost $1600 for 4 nights/5 days. This includes hotels, hall
rental, cost of hired soloists, orchestra, etc, and a few additional
perks such as a post-performance boat cruise. It does NOT include
transportation costs to NYC. There is also a less expensive
concert-only option ($900), which might be possible for us if there is
someone in the organization who works in travel and could make
arrangements. Participation in this trip of course would be optional.

QUOTES FROM REHEARSAL! (almost 10 again!)

- “Can you make it sound mystical; that means legato?”

- “If you blow a gasket here you’ll never make it to the end”

-   (to the tune of The First Noel) “The-uh three-ee bli-ind mice;
they ran af-ter the wife…”

- “We skip ahead… then we skip ahead some more… and even more…”

- “Then a bass will catch a soprano-1”

- I was told this was said but I didn’t hear it: “Don’t sing any
louder than beautiful” (I was probably busy scratching down the
previous quote)

- “Go to page 7 oh we’re already there”

- “Take out ‘Candles in the Window’… or whatever it’s called”

- “This one you have to practice 5 times before you go to bed at night”
