Why are we ordering copies of music that some of you might already have at home? The short answer: we can order new copies at discounts of 25-35% off the retail price when we order over 100 copies - but with no return options. Some publishers offer returns but then we end up paying the shipping both ways. Each packet typically features music from numerous publishers. The idea is to provide music to you as inexpensively as possible – this may sometimes necessitate including a $1.75 item that you already have.

There are times, however, when due to the expense of frequently performed extended works, such as Mozart Requiem, we will give singers the option of bringing their own score.

I hope this sheds some light on the issue. It also speaks to the importance of each singer letting us know when they are participating in each project; preferably paying for the packet online in advance of the first rehearsal. This is the best way for us to insure that you have scores when you come to the first rehearsal. It will also protect the organization from buying music that we cannot return.
