Dear Singers,
I am writing to invite you to the first performance of our 25th Anniversary Season, called “Cloudburst: Music from our Time,”taking place this Sunday, November 8th at 3:00 PM at The Matthews House, 315 West Chatham St., Cary, 27511. The program will feature 35 singers singing mostly a cappella works from the 20th and 21st centuries, all of which are compelling and having their own background story. The concert is presented as part of our mini series called “Through the Artist’s Eye”, designed to have the audience experience the multiple layers of the music-making process just as the performers do. Think of it as being invited to an informal gathering at a friend’s home, to share intriguing music in an intimate space with a glass of wine, a plate of cheese and fruit, and some great company!
The title work of the program, Cloudburst, is composed by noted American composer Eric Whitacre, who has drawn critical acclaim for his music and his innovations. It is scored for chorus, piano, handbells, and percussion to emulate a thunderstorm. You can hear the premiere recording of it at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpcjSoncsns <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpcjSoncsns> We will also perform works by Steven Sametz, Gian Carlo Menotti, Stephen Paulus, and Sir Arthur Sullivan.
Tickets for this concert are $35 including wine, cheese and fruit, and are available in advance or at the door (Our free student admission does not apply to this event.) This is a great opportunity to not only support your organization, but to also introducesomeone to The Concert Singers of Cary who is not familiar with our work.
I hope to see you there!
Larry
