Choral Notes for the week of 2/02/15

 

 

Monday night rehearsal

 

7:15pm - 8:30pm = Symphonic Choir

8:30pm - 9:30pm = Chorale - Bach/Pergolesi

 

 

Music

 

The "missing" music is beginning to arrive; we hope to have all of it by
Monday - check the table in front of Marcus Dry before rehearsal.

 

 

New-Updated Website

 

Please copy the following information about our "refreshed" website and put
it in your music folder (along with your section leader contact info.) for
easy reference! (This is also the attachment in case that makes it easier to
copy.) The website is not up yet as I am writing this but we expect it to be
up within the next day or so.A huge "Thank You!" to Ellen Schloemer for all
her hours and hours of work on this.we cannot thank you enough!!

 

Please read --this is short, straightforward, and designed to make your life
simpler! :)

 

What we tried to do with the new site

 

*        Use shorter text on each page and make the site much more visual 

*        Reorganize the site around its audiences: concert-goers,
supporters/contributors, prospective members, current members. Each of these
audiences has different reasons for visiting the site, and needs different
kinds of content.

*        Have a mix of relatively stable content along with content that is
updated frequently -- giving visitors a reason to come back to the site.
Most new content will appear in the "Schedule" section, which is basically a
blog where we can post promotions for upcoming concerts and other CSC
activities.

*        Provide more prominent, easy email signup and social links to
encourage visitors to engage with CSC in other ways besides viewing our
website, and to share CSC content with others.

*        Use "responsive design" which makes the site more usable to people
viewing it on a mobile device 

 

What's on the new site

 

The site is now organized in the following sections:

*       Home page - A very short overview of CSC and a teaser on our
2014-2015 season

*       About Us - Who we are and what we do

*       Membership - Information that prospective members need to know, and
a form to request an audition

*       Contribute- Ways that people and firms can support CSC and a page
listing our supporters

*       Schedule - This section provides expanded promotions for each
concert in a "blog" format

*       Tickets - Information on ticket prices and how to buy them

*       Members (login required) - This section is for CSC members only and
includes the following topics: 

o    Calendar 

o    Communications

o    Rehearsals & Performances

o    Other Guidelines

o    Practice Files 

o    PayPal Links

o   Change your login password

*       Other pages (see footer section of website):  Partner Organizations,
Hear Us Sing, Fuller Blunt Scholarship, and CSC Member Login link.

 

What CSC Members need to know

 

*       To access the members section of the website, click on "CSC Members
Login" at the bottom of the website.

*       When you are logged into the new site, you will see a "Members" link
in the top navigation bar, and you can access any page in the Members
section from there.  The Members link will not appear in the top navigation
bar unless you are logged in.

*       The FIRST TIME you try to log into the Members section, the website
will require you to register.  Here's how to do it:

o   Click on "CSC Members Login" at the bottom of the website.

o   On the Log In page,  select "Click here to register"

o   Complete the online registration form with your user name as
FirstName.LastName (with period in-between - same as the current website)

o   You can select your own password for your account.

o   After filling out all the fields in the form, click on "Register" at the
bottom of the page.

*  You will receive an email confirmation of your registration

*  You will also receive an email notice that you were subscribed to the
CSC_Newsline (aka Choral Notes).  You actually will get two emails because
we setting up a new list and are subscribing members to both the old and new
lists for now.  Don't worry, you won't get duplicate emails. 

o   Once you are registered, you can log in and view the Members pages.  

*       If you ever forget your login password or want to change it, select
the "Click here to reset" link on the Log In page (
<file:///C:\Users\ellen\Downloads\www.concertsingers.org\members\login>
www.concertsingers.org/members/login).  You don't have to be logged in to
reset your password.

*       If you ever want to change the email address connected to your
