Dear Singers,

For those who were not in attendance at this past Monday's rehearsal, I thought I would write to offer my congratulations and appreciation for your very fine work at the Time and Space concert last week. It was a wonderful performance of four outstanding works by four of the world's great composers. The ladies did a beautiful job with the Holst to compliment the beautiful performance of harpist Laura Byrne. The Vaughan Williams was great! You really came through, stepping up your performance significantly from the rehearsals to bring out the beauty of the work. The Williams Grant Still work was the talk of the evening among many in attendance. That might have been the biggest challenge of the evening since we had no reference to what the work was like until we combined with the orchestra. While we had some issues in rehearsals, I thought that the performance was a very good one. Mr Still's use of orchestral color and harmony made for a very compelling portrait of The Lost Continent. Bravo to Megan Brachtl and Aaron Carlyle for their usual outstanding solo work! I thought that the Beethoven rocked the house! Allen's work was top drawer professional solo piano and I am delighted to have worked with him on such an exciting work. Your singing was outstanding, despite your abbreviated involvement. The energy and drive that was needed to make it successful was there in abundance. Special thanks again to Megan and Aaron as well as Fran Newark, Tamsin Simmill, Peter LeBeau and Wes Everette for their fine singing and very professional calibre solo work!

The success of the evening would not have been complete without the outstanding work by members of The Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle. In addition to their very fine and skilled playing, I have enjoyed getting to know them as people over the last several years and deeply appreciate their positive spirit and support of my work and the art that we so deeply cherish. They play as the top flight professionals that they are, but with the enthusiasm that carried all of us to choose the profession in our youth. This is sometimes lost by some due to the all consuming work that is placed on free lance musicians.

If you have not seen the review that was posted on CVNC (Classical Voice North Carolina) you may read it at http://www.cvnc.org/article.cfm?articleId=7072

Many thanks again, for your hard work and dedication and to all in the organization that do the very significant work that it takes to help the organization function. I look forward to our first collaboration with The Moonlighters on December 13 and 14. If you are not singing the project with us, we hope to see you at one of the performances!

Sincerely,

Larry
