If you're interested in a "ride" through some of the most lyrical and intriguing love songs by American composers, then don't miss this upcoming concert. You'll hear works ranging from a song based on personal ads in The Village Voice to jazz, folk, and popular pieces; some familiar and some brand new. Highlights of the concert will be North Carolina premieres of The Lovers by Samuel Barber and a piece by Jacob Groff, a local composer. 
 
We hope you'll join us for this exciting program at the Cary Arts Center on May 10 at 7:30pm. NC Premiere of "The Lovers" by Samuel Barber

Samuel Barber is one of the most highly-regarded 20th century composers; his pieces span musical genres and he was awarded two Pulitzer Prizes for his work. 

In The Lovers, Barber tells the story of a love affair from beginning to end, with text based on Twenty Love Poems and A Song of Despair by Chilean poet Pablo Neruda. 

Despite its critical acclaim, The Lovers has been performed only rarely. We are excited to offer this piece to its first-ever North Carolina audience.
