*A Message from Larry:*

*Dear Friends,*
**
*I'm writing to invite you to what I feel will be a truly wonderful
production of Amahl and the Night Visitors next weekend in Durham at Watts
Street Baptist Church where I serve as Music Director. I don't think that I
have ever used this list to promote a church event but I think that this
one will be as fine a performance as you will find anywhere in the area.
Thanks to the generous support of sponsors within the church, the
performance is free and open to all. The cast features Grey Lehman, an 11
year old who has grown up in the church and is the finest boy soprano that
I have worked with in 35 years. He performed Amahl in early December in a
production led by the Durham Children's Choir and has appeared frequently
as a soloist at Duke Chapel. He has sung the solos in Bernstein's
Chichester Psalms with the Vocal Arts Ensemble of Durham and at Watts
Street. The mother is played by Maria Palombo, a wonderful young soprano
who is a sophomore at UNC who has extensive stage experience. Lewis Moore
will play Balthazaar with David Heist and John Oliver playing Kaspar and
Melchior. The performance will be accompanied by a 17 piece all
professional orchestra supplied by The Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle
under my direction.*
**
*The performances are on Friday, January 6th at 7:00 and Saturday, January
7th at 7:00 and last one hour. Please note that this is not a service of
worship but a concert opportunity offered to the community. Watts Street
Baptist Church is located at 800 Watts Street at Watts and Urban Ave.,
Durham, NC 27701 It is one block off of the East Campus of Duke University.*
**
*I hope that you all have a very Happy New Year and that you will
join Ingrid and me for one of these wonderful performances!*
**
*Sincerely,*
*Larry*

*New Year's Resolutions!*
We all at some point have made resolutions for the New Year. Like most, we
break them at some point into the New Year. Whether you have made
resolutions or not here are some to consider as they relate to the Concert
Singers of Cary.
*I HEREBY RESOLVE TO:*
**
Be on time for all rehearsals
Not talk when Larry is working with another section during rehearsal
Will rehearse my music at least one hour between
Will bring a pencil and water to rehearsals
Ok, you can stop laughing now. However, you have to admit they are some
good items to consider.
I do have one important resolution for you to consider, donate to the
pledge campaign. Checks should be made payable to Concert Singers of Cary
with pledge campaign in the memo section and mail to Concert Singers of
Cary, P. O. Box 1921, Cary, NC 27512 or donate online at
www.concertsingers.org
You have till January 15, 2012 to make a donation and have it count for
2011 tax year. In the memo field on your check note this donation is for
2011.
Thanks,
David Lee
